I’ve seen so many posts in the last few months surrounding the topic of fear.
It probably sounds SO ridiculous, but one of my greatest hindrances when it comes to blogging is the fear of putting myself out there. Fear that people will think I’m stupid, or my ideas are dumb, or whatever. 🙄🙃
For the most part, I sit pretty cozy on my couch behind the computer screen. Almost no one really knows who I am. Or at least not well enough to connect the words on the internet with the random lady chasing children through Target.
Rarely do I share to my personal Facebook page. I know for a fact that I’ve shown my face on video fewer than five times.
As of recently though, I’m trying to let go of that fear and fight the anxiety that it causes. I can’t genuinely connect with an audience if they have no one to connect with, right?!
Towards the end of last year, I took a teeny tiny tip toe step out of my comfort zone and asked strangers on Facebook to join an Instant Pot group board that I had created on Pinterest. Let me tell you, making that post was scary! All these people connecting my Facebook profile picture to my Pinterest account and blog.
What if they think it’s dumb? What if no one wants to join? Are there already a million other boards like this out there?
Wanna know what happened?
Almost instantly, I had requests to join! I still occasionally get emails with bloggers wanting to join the board, which has over 11K followers at this point, with nearly 30 bloggers contributing fantastic Instant Pot recipes!
For me, that first little step was a huge move in the right direction. I can’t let a stranger’s feelings or what they might feel about me dictate how I live my online life.
A few days ago, I posted two Insta stories where I spoke to the camera while I creeped on potential new neighbors. To my surprise, it wasn’t so scary and the sound of my voice didn’t cause anyone’s ears to bleed. Actually, I got a TON of messages in response to those posts, which felt AWESOME, because I love chatting with y’all!
This year, I’m looking forward to looking forward to making even more connections and creating some great content!
